Hello all,

As y'all know I'm new here and sometimes the tech talk, slang, and general short typing can get a little confusing for us new to the car and especially Mopar world.
I was hoping everyone could contribute so guys like myself that come along can find to this thread and decode all the genius flying around.
Some examples:
RR = Road Runner
SS = ?
Post Car = ?
440 HP (in reference to the block) I get the 440 CI but what's the HP
Etc

SS=Super Sport, a term used by Chevy, Ford, Cragar, and just about everyone at some point. Sometimes its used to abbreviate stainless steel. Can also refer to Super Stock or Street Stock in racing, depending on the type and sanctioning body. Probably some other uses for it that aren't coming to me.

A post car is a generic term for a 2-Dr coupe that has a vertical post between the side and rear quarter glass. No post makes it a hardtop, a single opening from A to C pillar when the windows are down. 4-drs can also be hardtops, but its rare.

HP high performance or horsepower, depending how its used
ECU electronic control unit, brain box for electronic ignition
RB largest of the big blocks, 413,426,440 (2? Years of 383)
B block or low deck, 350,361,383,400
LA block 273,318,340,360
Poly 318...its own thing aka wide block 318

I often use "Bel" for Belvedere as well as the above examples. "Sat" can be Satellite.

GTX stands for awesome, bad *** ........... actually it means nothing, it just sounded good so they used it, most likely in response to the popularity of the Pontiac GTO.

yeah I can't find anything definitive for years, that's what I always thought too...

...and the "o" in gto is omologato, the Italian word for homogenized, which is what they do to milk, to make it all the same consistency.

Gran Turismo Omologato GTO
Omologato is conforming to a particular standard and has nothing to do with milk.
Omogeneizzato is what they do to milk in Italia.

here a good one I heard many moon ago. an automatic trans slang term is pronounced ''prindle'' meaning p-r-n-d-l, I've never heard it since.
