Well after trying everything my dad and I know and all new stuff installed. Had to call strange or email and they said that I have the wrong carrier turns out I have a series 5 locker and need a seires 3. Now mine is in awesome shape barely used when I bought from a guy off craigs list he swapped out for a electric locker. Wondering if anyone needed to swap lockers mines a 30 spline or does anyone know of someone selling one a series 3 for a cheaper cost. If its not one thing is another on these cars lol
Thanks.

just went through the same thing. very frustrating to say the least.

Yea thanks. Wouldnt have thought there would be two types. All else fails can put the trac lock back in it just wanted a locker and got this one for a good price compared to the $750 new.

All pro gear sets regardless of ratio = 5 series but I'm under the impression that 5 series carriers are 35 spline!? All 3.54-4.30 (except Richmond 4.10) street gears should be a 3 series but, iirc I've seen both in 30 and 35 spline and Richmond 4.10 street gears should be a 5 series carrier. Yeah, it's crazy.

I bought some 4.10s for it. Heres what happened. Everytime the carrier is put in with the pinion installed the side closest to the ring gear doesnt seat all the way down and when I torque the main studs down it binds everything up. But if I put the carrier in without the pinion in seats perfect and spins freely. There are no shims on the pinion races. This is what I told strange and they told ms my carrier locker is the wrong one. The gears I bought through them and are spicer gear set along with their master over haul kit.

4.10 gears are available for both 3 & 5 series carriers. It may be cheaper to swap the gear set instead.

Well I contacted summit racing about my issue and the only gear set they offer for 410s is there pro drag gears which I doubt will be good to run on the street plus the $440 price tag doesnt help either.

Well looks like im going up to 4.56 to be able to run my locker oh well will just pull harder

use an inch or more taller tire... that will cut the gear down some too

Thanks everyone looking at getting some 315/50/15 drag radials for the back to have fun on for now.

Well finally got everything figured out went with the 4.56 gears had to be for the series 5 locker I got. Finished the set up today juat waiting now to buy the axles then time to install and fire up this engine :headbang:

3.14 x 1" = 3.14" more roll-out 3.14 x 2" = 6.28"

Need to increase rear tire size 10% to make a noticeable difference.....

yeah meant to say 1"- 2"/or should have said "a couple of inches", taller/diameter tires !! :iamwithstupid: IMHFO every little bit helps too thou, even an inch taller diameter, will be 3.14" more circumference or roll-out
