Does anyone know the correct gold paint used for the hood stripe on a black 70 road runner? Citron Gold Poly, maybe? I have looked everywhere I can think of with no luck. Thanks.

No way to get something correct because
No gold hood stripe came from the factory
on that car.

I'm pretty sure they did. I had one, I bought in 72 that way and I am certain it was original. I have seen several since and one other in my home town back in 72 or 73.

Who knows, it may have been a dealer option. They did come with hood stripes from the factory but only flat black.

All most convinced.

Wow, I would have bet good money that the gold stripe on my old black road runner was a factory option. Now 44 years later, I'm not so sure. It Looked just like the car at this site &nbsp;http://www.classicnation.com/1970-plymouth-road-runner/ &nbsp; That's several vehicles I have seen with the same paint scheme. Coincidence, dealer option, factory option, I don't know. Any other thoughts?<br>

The side stripes were available in gold. Your first post asked about hood stripes. I believe they were flat black only.

side stripe was gold
and rear panel stripe could be gold.
Hood stripe was only black.
Most hood stripes came in black back then because
Of safety
they didn't want to
Blind a driver with glare from the sun off the hood.

I think some custom work looks so good, we all walk away saying they *should* have made it that way. Let's face it - that stripe is period correct and looks fantastic.

Black 70 Roadrunners are just plain Bad Mamma Jammas. Probably my favorite black 70 right here, with the Dog Dish caps.

Didn't they do a white hood stripe too, or is that non-factory? I've seen that before as well. I thought it was someone's car on here.

I have researched this subject at great length since I have a 70 with white interior/top. From everything I can find, hood stripes were only black (from the factory), dust trails are only gold & tail stripes can be black/white/gold.

One thing I'm curious about.... was any combination possible? I mean, could I get a black stripe hood, gold side stripes & white tail stripes?

I may be mistaken, but weren't side stripes a Plymouth thing (gtx, roadrunner dust stripe), and tail stripes a dodge thing (superbee)? I don't recall ever seeing a roadrunner with a tail stripe..

I think they mean the stripe across the back above the tail lights, as in the picture below, not the Dodge tail stripes (which are cool as hell - I wish they were a Plymouth option...)

Like the others, my understanding is that the ONLY color hood stripe in 1970 was flat black. The rear stripe had gold as an option.

The optional Road Runner dust trail (side stripe) was always gold(ish).
