Just picked up this kit.

https://reconingspeakers.com/product/delco-4x10-diy-standard-recone-kit/

Had been fretting about the old speaker, funny story bought an old AM only thumb wheel off ebay guys said he didn't know if it worked or not. me being me had to take it apart and try to fix it. found an old dirt dobers nest in there got that cleaned up checked everything else and it fired right up of course with an antenna plugged in.

Get it installed in the car and wow old am stations coming to life. Get on the road and get to cranking up a ball game (last spring) and all of a sudden pow little pop and no more sound, first thought dam radio was bad and just blew out.

Get home take the radio out, don't see anything wrong, start scratching my head, sleep on it and during the night it hits me hey check the speaker, sure as **** pulled it out and it had just disintegrated lol

I guess the old paper was just too brittle and I got one more good blast out of it before it went out. So I was looking at getting a new one, even one of those dual ones etc and thought man the cost of everything is just going up and up wtf? then yesterday I get an idea, wonder if it can be fixed start looking around and find that not only can you recone your old busted speaker but there are lots of videos on it as well as services to do it for you.

After cleaning up the old one I have and looking it over I thought man this is easy I just need the kit, start searching tonight and found this one. After looking for 4x10 speakers online this kit shipped to me was cheaper than an old NOS on or even a newer modern one. So what the heck give it a shot under $40 can't go wrong. I will take lots of pics when the kit shows up

Here is a video.

Thanks good info but was way different on the first view nothing 4x10..

What do you mean nothing 4x10? they have them. mine just shipped hope to have it all done by Sunday.

Just a follow up to anyone who searches for it. The Chrysler 69 b body front dash speaker is the .875" voice coil kit NOT the 1" kit FYI learned my lesson so no need for anyone else to suffer.

Looks like a deal! No kits for 5x7s though. Google search turned up nothing but a refoam kit. I like to take the repair not replace approach to whatever I can. It just erks the **** out of china importers who think all of America can't live without their cheap ****!:sFl_america2:

Well sad to report this but felt I need to follow up so no one else makes the mistake I did. The two kits mentioned in this thread are for Delco only speakers and the 1" was the correct kit to get unfortunately the voice coil is just a hair too big at it's base and it wont fit right. I am still looking for the right kit but in the mean time ordered a modern one for the same price. I still want to restore the original piece but until I can figure out which kits is correct I will use a new 3-way. Also just a heads up. If you are going to do this KEEP YOUR OLD VOICE COIL! lol I tossed mine with the other broken stuff, had I known it would have saved some shipping $$ back and forth. Us it to measure and compare for the new kit.
