Finally got all the buytl rubber dug out of the window chanel. That stuff is pain in the a@# to get out there. Got all of the trim retainers out but 3 were rusted on to the chanel. Where do you guys get new ones from? little bit a time this car is coming together.

Little tip for next time on removing the Buytl. Take off the bulk of it with a razor blade after warming with a propane torch or heat gun. Warm it up what's left with a propane torch or heat gun again. Wipe of the excess with a rag and a decent solvent, like some acrylic reducer or degreaser. Makes it quite a bit easier to get that stuff off.

Good idea Prop. That is some nasty stuff to get off.

I used to do it the same way but i used laquar thinner once the majority was off, I keep it around just for cleaning its so strong.. But i have used the acrylic reducer as thats the only type of painting i do.. So i like to keep it in case i need it for a touch up job..

propwash, good idea, I went through about 6 razor blades getting it close, then carefully using a wire wheel one a angle grinder to clean everything up nice. thanks for the link daytona kid. I am tring to get this thing ready for media blasting/metal repair. next up engine/trans pull and gas tank removal.

No problem...I really hate getting that stuff out of there as well. Never fun, never that easy. Cool to hear you're rolling right along and in the stages of getting her shipped off to be stripped. Good deal.

Just an FYI- I believe there are two different sizes of clips.

Better measure the ones you have and ask woever you buy from to do the same.

YY1 I have a mopar yard (wildcat auto) super close. would I be better off grabbing clean used clips off a 69 (and i would take a clip to compare from my car) vs. getting new from the sites daytona kid recom. two other questions for the guys that have played with this stuff before. I removed the guts from the door (glass, regulator, etc.) for the painter. I was careful but a few things got "tweaked" when taking apart. I have a loaded some pics to help describe what I am talkin about. the felt liner (where the window meets the wing window pillar) came apart on removal and the plastic window stop shattered when i raised it out of the door. really appreciate the help. Those felts can be bought at places like Molded Metro Parts, R/T Specialties or Megaparts. I believe Megaparts and R/T speciaties will have the window stops as well.

I'm guessing the front felt guide's are probably shot as well (ones that slide up/down on the backside of the vent window) Little harder to find, little more pricey.

R/T specialties usually has them, so does year one and you can still get them from chrysler:

The reason I know, is that my brother just did the back windshield on his 66 and the first set of clips he got were too short. He had to take the window back out. Not sure where he got either set, or which ones you need, but there is about a 3/32" difference, and it was enough to not be able to get the chrome back on.
