I drove my '69 D300 for the first time in over two years last Saturday. I finally got around to getting it and my project '87 Chevy R-10 4x2 pickup out and about. I'm finding that driving a manual absolutely kills my left leg! Difficulty walking was one of several things that made my decision to retire pretty easy. So, I plan on using/enjoying it until the end of Summer, then it'll go up for sale. Boy, it drives nice and does everything it's supposed to. I plan on getting the mirror brackets powder-coated very soon. Get them done in a chrome-like finish, install new aluminum mirrors and call that done!

The Chevy has sat in my shop for over three years. I've been doing things to it, as well. I took it (rather, had it flat bedded) to s buddy's shop to get a cracked frame repaired, and installed rear shocks. It drives pretty nice, too. First year of FI and last year of the Square body style. This might be my first attempt at a full paint job. The body is amazingly straight and rust-free!

My first full month of retirement has been a full one.

That's a damn cool 69 D300, in a flatbed rendition
what motor 383 (?)
trans (granny low ? 4 speed, I assume)

is it the same one listed over on forCbodiesonly ?

I had a 79 D300 Adventurer SE single wheel that I wish I would have never let go of. It was the first vehicle to ever get named.....Edna. Whip me beat me call me Edna fame and it was whipped and beat when I got her and I did it some more to her. The body was pretty good but man, it was worn out when I got it but it stayed together for another 10 years! Dang horse for sure. 8 mpg no matter if it was loaded or not but even when loaded, it still hauled butt. 360 with granny 4 speed and 4.10 gears.

Yes. It's a 318 4-speed with 4.10 gears. Goes anywhere I want to go at 55 mph. Haven't checked fuel mileage yet. I suspect 8-10 is about it!

Next step is a complete engine detail. The engine is a '72 replacement from long ago. I want to shoot it the correct Red.
