Same issue on my 67 wagon. The PO ordered the disc conversion from the Doc. There is about a 1/4", unthreaded portion at the tip of the spindle that keeps the caps from fully seating. When I go to put the 11.75" rotors on, 10.75" currently, I'll lop off that tip with a cutoff wheel.

1973 and later passenger car disc brake factory grease caps, including 1973-1976 A-body discs, are # 3580894. These should fit all 1973 - 1989 rear wheel drive car factory specification rotors and spindles. Aftermarket caps and/or rotors and/or spindles might have variances. 1973 - 1976 A-body drum brakes are smaller as with earlier models.

1972 and earlier passenger car disk and drum brakes, except 9" A-body drum brakes, factory grease caps are # 1613416. These caps are slightly smaller than 3580894.

Original Chrysler 3580894 caps have "894" stamped on them:

Original Chrysler 1613416 caps are plain:

Some after market caps, such as the chrome caps in the following image are shorter and can interfere with the spindle tip:

I think so. The cap bottoms out on the tip. I can tap around the flange of the cap, get it flushed up on the rotor on one side, tap the opposing side down and it just rocks over the tip giving me gaposis on the opposing side. Just had a thought and I'll need to find them to verify, but the caps supplied with the package may not be as deep as the stockers. Need to find my pair for the 65, stock 73- units, to verify.
