Noticed that summit racing has a exhaust kit for 70 roadrunner that has the H pipe between both sides of the exhaust. I have really only seen these on fords. Anybody know why? Is there an advantage in having the crossover better performance??

Thanks Guys.:steering:

An exhaust crossover balances the pressure differential between the two sides, and helps with exhaust tuning of the power band.

X2...what he said! a crossover pipe is kinda like an equalizer...balancing the pressure between the 2 pipes inside the exhaust. and it makes your pipes sound alot smoother also....not choppy!:book1:

I went with the H pipe. I don't care if the X pipe gives you 3 more hp, and the H pipe gives you 3 more foot pounds. I had an X pipe once. It gave the car a different kind of sound. But the reason I ditched it was because I felt it was poorly designed once I got a real motor in the car. The shop took two U shaped pieces, then cut the sides off and welded them together. So the 2.5" exhaust went from a total of 5" of total volume for flow down to like 3" at the X pipe. It didn't really matter at the time because I had a stock poly. So if you go with the X pipe, make sure that right where the X part is there is not going to be a restriction. If the X pipe literally looks like an X, then your cutting down your ability to flow exhaust gases in half right? Or am I missing something here? Regardless, I wanted my exhaust to have a natural sound so I went with an H pipe per Flowmaster's recommendation when I stepped up to 3".
