Not trying to be a whiner, just posting this to help other forum members if it applies.
Last year, squatting for periods of time painting a floor, my knee/lower right leg felt like it was going to sleep all the time as I finally stood up. This year, doing some similar light duties I found the same sensation, but it got worse until last week I could not put any weight on my right side because of knee pain. Pain killers and therapeutic topical gels seem(ed) to do very little (if anything) to help things along. I did not participate in any supervised rough sports as a youngster.
The source of the majority of pain (when prodding around with finger pressure) seems to be the "lateral collateral ligament" (I'm no anatomy expert). The immediate area around there is probably messed up to some degree as well. I walked around for a week or two with increasing pain and stiffness until recently when it was a little too much to bear. Now I've been off that foot/knee/leg for almost a week now.
Time to consult a professional. Found by researching treatment/diagnosis that x-ray's do not provide a direct view of soft material damage but evidently an MRI will. We will see what happens. I am now finding by constantly putting all my weight on the left side it is not doing that limb any favors, so the sooner this issue gets resolved, the better.
