Haggerty Barn Finds

I just have a real problem with the term "barn find" these days. It used to be barn finds were forgotten cars. They had been stashed by owners who passed away and people forgot the cars were even around until someone stumbled on them. I don't see cars that are part of active collections being barn finds.

absolutely, i hate reading that on CL. sooooo many ads say barn find, and then to top it off they clearly describe how its not a barnfind at all this is one i literally read a couple days ago "barn find 67 cougar, my dad bought it in from the original owner who drove it until 2001. they parked it in their garage when the starter went and its sat there until 2005 when my dad got it to fix up with me. but its just too much of a projects, we decided to let it go and find something more rust free" are you effin kidding me? barn find because it sat in a garage for 4 years? the other one that pisses me off is "perfect for rat rod" no an original car that has no paint left and is an old hunk of junk is not a rat rod because its rusty, its just a piece of **** that needs a full restoration. maybe if you were selling a package deal of that body, but the drive train from a 2004 Hyundai mini van, the bed of a 50s pick up, the chassis from a 90s s10 and a pile of rusty chain and yard sale box wrenches to weld into the random nooks and crannies oh, and an old two man tree saw blade... then ya you could say "perfect for rat rod build"

some times its so bad, it aggravates me that i have to reply to the ad just to call them out on it

Yeah, I hate both "barn find" and "perfect for rat rod" comments. They are just trying to put lipstick on a pig.
