I've done a lot of looking without much success. Are 1/2 or 3/4 groove main bearings available for a 383/400 crankshaft. If so can anyone provide a supplier or part number. Thanks.

half groove main bearings should be the standard factory bearing. never known of a passenger car 383-400 to come from the factory with full or 3/4 groove bearings.

I think the only fully grooved main bearings were for a Hemi. This supplied oil to the rod journals all the time, rather than every half turn of the crankshaft. And I think these fully grooved main bearings could also be used in a 440.

Now looking at Summit, all the main bearings for a 400 are fully grooved.

Maybe the half groove ones are no longer available? I'm pretty sure they were standard on the factory 383s in the late 60s.

Check out the MS 2324 P mains by Clevite. In the description it says grooved, the pics show a half groove, but further description says upper and lower halves are grooved. I believe the fully grooved are better.

Don't know if it's true, but what I ran into looking for Clevites for my 440, half groove bearings were not available anymore.
Either no groove, or full groove only! Only way, I was told, was to buy BOTH sets, mix and match. Said the heck with it, and went full groove.
