I have some questions about the melrose missile before it was altered that im hoping you could answer 1:what is up with the sedan door and post 2: how hard would it be to do that 3: how would i go about doing that?

I would think that you would need a donor car for the door and frame for the back. Maybe the glass might be different also. If you found one that is all rusted out for cheap, the door frames might still be good.

There's different cars that I've seen that were four doors and they converted them to two doors. There's a couple on here that did this, so doing what you want to do shouldn't be out of the question. Just need the parts, tools and knowhow. Good luck!

Isn't that just the window frame and rain gutter trim?? Stock two door hardtop with the window rolled up.......................MO

Ya hard to tell from the pic but that may be just painted trim and not a post
 
Couple zoomed in shots I played with on my phone makes me think it’s just painted trim. My 64 looks the same with the windows up

It's the same on the golden commando too there's a frame around the door
 
It definitely looks thicker than the stock chrome trim

I’ve never actually noticed that on those super stocks. Must be a strength thing as bob mentioned but no idea how it’s done.
 
so I asked a buddy of mine who knows more about 60s mopar racing than anyone ive ever met. Im not saying he knows all but I listen since his group of friends lived through those days! here is his answer to this door mystery:

"there were 12 factory altered wheelbase cars built but only one was a sedan (bill Flynns Yankee peddler) the rest were hard tops. The hard top cars did use sedan doors to give them more strength. The first time out for the altered wheel base cars was at the AHRA winter nationals at bee line drag way in January of 65. at that race the cars still had the hard top doors on them but the bodies were twisting. So from that point on those cars switched to sedan doors. Bill Flynns car was the last to be built and was not ready for that first race. after the factory saw what happened at bee line they built Flynns car using a sedan model."

I didn't know this so I learned something today too! after further discussion he thinks the sedan doors fit but there will be some adjustments and trimming probably. Im super interested to learn how this process goes when you do it so please keep me updated!
 
The biggest reason I did not think it was a sedan was because of the C pillar. I have never seen a sedan with that style of pillar. Adding door frames makes sense for the difference in appearance.......................MO
