Hate hearing stories of pristine old rides getting destroyed, nice when nobody is hurt or worse. But, friend of a friend lost his cherry ’69 RR when a gal t-boned him at a 4-way stop intersection. It was a sunny day and his glistening red RR – somehow – she didn’t SEE it, much more, run the stop sign? Not aware of the entire story, but could it be…more eyes on a friggin phone instead of on the road?
This cars owner had a firefighter license plate. Think he may have been standing there as the sad looking guy who was there. Don’t think there were injuries but happened on it after it happened.
Sad, truly sad!!
I thought that was going to be me this last summer when I had to launch my Coronet over a median divider to avoid hitting a young lady that decided the last minute she wanted my lane. I replaced the rack and pinion and got it aligned so I could drive it this last summer. I pick it up wednesday after having the front end dropped and all the bushings and ball joints replaced. Better than new!!
My wife asked me why I didn't just let her hit the car instead of hitting the curb. She would have had to stop, instead on running and leaving me. I just looked at her and told her, find me all these parts and deal with all the BS that would have caused, it was the path of least resistance. You just don't go out and find all these new parts for these old cars. I told her, had I been in our Durango, I would have run over the top of her, stepped out of it and called it a day. They're building new Durangos as we speak.
