I have the opportunity to pick up an HD 727 out of a 69 roadrunner. My question is,is it worth buying. I now have a regular 727 in my superbee that is a 66. Can I make the 66 HD with a few parts changes or is It alright by itself. Just wondering if I'm wasting my money. Car is just a driver w stock 383. Thanks for your opinions. By the way he wants 375 for the trans.

If your engine is stock it should be fine. The biggest difference between your '66 trans and the '69 is that the '69 has a different stator, front drum and input shaft. The front drum uses a wider bushing (which rides in the stator) and a 23 spline input shaft. The '66 has a 19 spline. If you wanted to use the '69 trans you would need the correct convertor too. There are some other little differences too like clutch pack friction counts, servo styles and other things but bottom line is if your engine is stock you are fine IMHO
