header clearance

i have a 73 rr originaly a 318 car i put a big block 440 in it but now the header clearance is let than 1/4" on pas side n on drivers the headers hit the gear box every on on here ive talked to says i hould be able to get me hands in between the headers on pass side n shouldnt hit gear box either idk wats wrong if frame was beant they wouldnt be able to get car aligned right??? thanks guys

I have flow techs in my 72 charger and i have the same problem. Wasn't installed by me, not sure how they did it or if its because of them hitting the gear box, but my gear box leaks pretty good... I believe the brands fit differently. I have some hooker super comps (1 7/8) header in my 70 that fit better then them damn flowtechs.

Now on to your problem. Since you suspect that both sides are not fitting correctly, what I would do would be to make sure your motor mounts are correct and in good condition. Nine times out of ten, when both swides don't fit right, something with the motor mounts is amiss.

Yes please use peroids. I suck at language and have a hard time following you.

How did you do the BB conversion? BB K-frame or the conversion mounts? Also 73-up has a BB pass inner fender thats different than the SB one.

i used factory bb k frame. the motor mounts i used i checked part #s and for 73-74 b body cars.the only thing i did was but in new rubber mounts in to the metal part of the mount. im running headman headers.sorry every one im not good at spelling or puncuation my bad. but thanks for every ones help!!!

Headmans usually fit pretty good but seems most all headers hit the P/S box. I'd ding them to clear the box and leave the pass side for now if they are not hitting. Just keep an eye on it.

theres a couple guys on here who have done the same project. except for the schumacker conversion mounts. but had alot more room
