Headlamp problem

Having a weird problem on my 73 charger. I just changed the fog lights and it required cutting the old connector and hard wiring to the bulb. Now both fog lights work but they won't shut off usin the floor switch and neither headlights will work. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?

wrong bulbs or bad ground.

Found a loose ground now high beams and foot switch are working. Still no headlights
