Need to install a heat shield on the floor pan of the car. Would like to find out what you all have tried and has worked or not worked.

The car has 3" duel exhaust no cats. The heat transferred to the floor is tremendous and we want it to be a daily driver. I would like to get the the best we can find the first time. What has been your experience with heat shields and who's shields work and don't work?

No real help here, but I wound up w/ a bunch of used header wrap from the set of 2" tti`s I bought used, I put new wrap on the headers, and used the old wrap to completely wrap my 3 1/2" exhaust system , musta helped cause I haven`t noticed any unusual heat coming thru the floor. Nothing extra in the cabin either, just new carpet !

I put a layer of the fat-mat 'mega mat' under the (jute-backed) carpet and heat not a problem. 440 with dual 3" as well...oh make sure the timing is advanced enough! Originally mine wasn't advanced as far as it wanted to be and you could feel the heat on the floor within a couple minutes

you can use this as an option, Lizardskin ceramic insulation, easy to apply, cleanup with soap, water and works great to keep the heat down. A friend used it on his build and really likes it. His motor is a 505 stroker 650tq/560hp with headers and creates a lot of heat

There are several insulation pads around & I suspect (no experience) that ones with a silver backing would be preferred. I do know first hand the wrapping the exhaust under you feet with header wrap works very well like not-so-famous-bob mentioned.

On a budget? I'm going with this foil back insulation. 4'x24' for $62. Comes in different lengths. Ships from Arizona, takes about a week. Online ordering only.
