How difficult is it to remove the heater box on a 70 coronet? I'm thinking about taking it out and restore. I may resore it myself but if I don't any suggestion who to have do it maybe the heater box guy??

Its not difficult at all if its just heater no a/c. See my thread at welcome wagon ( Hi Guys ) Hit me back if you need more info. You can buy a kit online to reseal it for around $40.00.

if you want the one out of my parts gary $30.00.then you can send it in to have it redone, and not have to remove yours until you replace it.also i beleive its 3 bolts and its out.

Tad, that sounds good to me. I'll redo it myself. I'll media blast it on go from there but not sure what to blast it with Maybe soda???

Where did you get the kit online? Thanks

There is a guy on Moparts.com that sells the best rebuild kits, he goes by 71TA and he is a good guy to deal with. i can't recall his business name but he makes them his self and you get everything you need. He sells on e-bay but it would be cheaper to get them from him. I'm thinking it is Detroit Muscle Technology are something like that. And on removing it just remove the 3 nuts on the firewall and mark which cable goes where on the box before you remove them. And remember how to hook your wires back up. it is really easy so you should have no problem. I think every one uses bead to blast them, but you will have to be careful so you don't mess up the box. Good Luck Ronnie

heres the one i have gary, try to reproduce the smeared stamp number like they did on this one.

Tad, or anyone else what is the difference in the stamps. Mine is stamped the same except it has a 1 on the end instead of the 0 other guys stated the same. I wonder what is the difference. They say bead blast the fiberglass but I woner if you could soda blast it with the same results. Tad, I'll be there Sunday at Gilmore's but I don't think I'll bring the car.

Plowman, I just scrubbed my fiber box with Spray9 , I bead blasted the metal parts , and painted them the correct color. As far as the factory stamp , I taped it off and painted around it. Turned out pretty good IMO. Check my thread. Also, you can actually buy a sticker that repicates the stamp if you really want too. I have an extra if you want it that I did not use.

Yeah, I checked the thread out. I saved it so I can refer to it. What would you consider the correct black on the metal part? What did you use?

I used Plastikote gloss black. I could tell when Itook mine apart that it was originally gloss black. Used Eastwood detail grey on bare metal parts

it seems to change to a one for the last number if you have a later build date in the year.
