Heater core valve

Would anyone know if the vacuum operated coolant valve for the heater core is available as a reproduction item?
If I just eliminated it what sort of problems would that cause?
I will attach a pic with the valve circled in red.
Any info would be appreciated.

Scott, I eliminate mine and just put in a manual inline open/close valve the auto parts stores sell. But I live in the south and only need to open mine for a few weeks out of the year.
