Now this line comes thru the fire wall and connects to one of the small ports on the front of the carb? I'm asking even though it sounds like I told you.

Mine have all connected to a fitting on the rear of the intake manifold. The fitting should have a large connection for the hose to the PCV valve, plus a small connection for the heater vacuum line.

I saw this on some pics but the engine I have has a m1 high rise manifold which does not have an opening for that. :edgy:

Then you have to get the vacuum from the carb, as you stated. Some carbs have more than one small hose connection. Use one that has constant manifold vacuum in order to make the heater controls work properly.

Yes this carb has 2 small ports in the front. One on either side of a large one in the center. So you figure one is constant and the other isn't?

ok, I see one is marked full time vacuum port, and the othersays ported vacuum port. The larger one in the middle is marked PCV valve port. ( I'm getting this in th pamphlet.)

Sounds like you've gotten it figured out.

Should look something like this

Joe you have an edelbrock carb right? The constant vacuum port on the front drivers side of the carb should work fine.

vacuum port below throttle blades=full vacuum.
vacuum port above throttle blades=for vacuum advance, throttle open.
