Hei install

I'm swapping my 383 over to an msd hei and am not quite sure how to eliminate the ballast resistor. After searching, the best I've come up with is to jump the ballast resistor wiring together?

"MSD hei"? please clarify that with a Part number.
Every ready to run MSD distributor, or MSD box i have ever sold/seen just requires a simple 12V hot, ground, and wires to the coil. The ballast wiring shouldn't even be in the equation. as well as the factory ECM wiring.

Grab a 12V...the MSD runs on its own. Factory ignition becomes irrelevant, and the engine would run on the floor if you wanted it to.

Are you sure its an MSD? I know there are a couple of chinese companys (Procomp) that took GMs hei & mounted them to mopar & ford shafts for a conversion...I tried the ford one it ended up being junk...bought a MSD..

It's a brand new msd 8386. I know the ballast is not needed but I'm unsure of how to eliminate it properly without inadvertently creating another issue

Yep.... unplug the blue/brown going into the ballast & connect it to the blue coming out of the ballast. I just removed my ballast resistor all together, but it won't hurt anything to set there on the firewall disconnected. I think it drops the 12 volts to 7 volts (?). The MSD ignitions require the full 12 volts.
