Hellcat powered Miata

Appropriate comment at the end as the driver climbs out: "I gotta say, you guys did a great job of building the most useless vehicle..."

How would it handle on the 1/4 mile strip? Me thinks that doing burnouts and spins would be fun but I don't think that car would handle very straight on a straight track, too light or am I thinking stupid on this?:steering:

They didn't explore what the Miata could do. I would rather have this car.

Just because you CAN do something , doesn't mean that you SHOULD....

I couldn't watch all that. I have never understood the fascination of just spinning around in circles and destroying tires to make a bunch of smoke and noise....
(I guess it sucks to be a grownup)

Only made it as far as the usual dubstep music...

Interesting to watch
But;
I'm not a fan of the Miata at all
'way too much engine for that lil' car'
I can't believe I just said that :D, it's not like me...

maybe;
It's more, 'a waste of a Hellcat combo'
to do drifting, burnouts & donuts
in a throwaway car

I'm sure it could eventually, with some suspension changes
be made to work to go down a dragstrip
IMO too heavy of an engine combo to handle well, for a road course
I'm sure someone could do it
the short wheelbase would be a handful, for damn sure

I've had many short-wheelbase light cars as drag cars
Vegas', Opel GT, Pinto, MGB, Datsun 1600, Datsun 240-280Z, 62 Vett
all with American V8s, all 9.90 - 8.90 or faster cars
S/G 9.90 & S/C 8.90 classes were full of 'them types of cars'
late 70's & early 80's into the 90's too
One of my Altereds' (32 Bantam Roadster) was org. 92" wb (I stretched to 96")
it orignally had an iron 392 Hemi/TF 727, out of the Sacramento area
then when I had it, with a blown BBC/PG on methanol, wheelie machine
(Think Wild Willy)

I just don't like Miatas'

As you know, I almost went down that track with my A100. :)

It came down to money and complexity of the swap....and the local authorities with their picky little criticisms.

....it still could be done.....I do need a new company vehicle to run around in next year....

I was offered an identical pair of 1968 B7 blue GTX convertibles by their original owner. They were identical, except the 440 had 40,000 miles, the Hemi had 3,000 miles and had never been licensed. The guy said if he got spanked in the 440 car, he would go home and get the Hemi, put the 440 plates on it, and go again.

That said Kiwi, build a second pickup that looks identical, but isn't. Switch plates when you want to drive it.

The little ole 408 that I bought from BluePrint Engines is a real screamer....and sometimes it like I'm driving on marbles as it is.

Maybe my lead foot....not sure yet. :D

I just got back from the local Garden centre ...need some bags of mix and compost...and some Passionfruit plants.
Got some great comments on the truck. Not allowed out of the vehicles down there
.....personal shopper assigned...and they load up for you.

:xscuseless:

Kiwi, I'm curious if you don't mind. How much was shipping for an engine from the states to Kiwi land?
I got a good deal with my Shipping Agents.... $500 landed for the crate and two small packages. (Long Beach L.A. - Auckland N.Z.)

Normally costs a bit more. @Johnny Mac looked after me also with a great discount from the BluePrint factory.

There is a local appointed Agent down here for them.....and after checking their pricing....whoooa....I saved a good few bucks.
