Hi I'm Brian,
I was recommended to this forum of the AACA Forum. I have a 1969 Charger 318 with factory air. I found and added tic-toc tac and correct AM/FM radio. Otherwise the car is a fairly plain jane basic Charger. I've owner the car for 21 years it was my first car. Car was sold in Charlotte and all three previous owners were in the Charlotte. I bough the car in NJ and moved to Charlotte for school a year later. I have full title history to the MSO. I am friends with the original dealer's son who is still a dealer in town (no longer CDJR however).

I'm beginning a full concourse quality restoration and am nearing the end of disassembly. Perhaps I'll do a build thread, we'll see. I also have an 08 Charger Superbee, but I'm a pre-war Buick guy mostly having just completed a frame off restoration of a 38 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Phaeton, one of 411 produced. I did all the restoration myself incl excluding the upholstery/top and machine work on crank. I am anticipating the Charger to be a much easier restoration for several reasons. 1. more availability of reproduction parts, 2. I've done a driver quality restoration once already so I've taken it most of the way down and back already so I have some lessons learned in my bag of tricks. 3. The Buick restoration made me a more resourceful in my approach to unobtainable parts and expanded my local network of restorations resources.

At the moment and what generated the recommendation to post here is that I am looking for A904trans experts hopefully relatively close to Charlotte (lets say with in the surrounding states). My trans began leaking some 10 plus years ago and my attempts along with a few local shops have proved unsuccessful in stopping the leaks despite various replacements and rebuilds of components. I'd like to put in in the hands of an expert and have them go through it to get it like new. Though I usually don't mind tackling anything myself at least once...I'm gonna take the easy way out on this one item.

Also any recommendations on who can rebuild factory A/C compressor converting it to modern refrigerants would also be appreciated. The factory air has never worked in the course of my ownership.

Thanks in advance for assistance

Welcome to the site let's see some pictures of the charger and that Buick! I just sold my 1947 Buick super 2 door sedanette . So I can focus on my charger build. Deff do a build thread we like them and I agree you build any old Buick everything else is easy . I learned alot from mine had to hand fab alot of parts and rebuild alot of stuff no reproduction help .

I "think" you just need to switch change out the O-rings in your A/C system to go from R-12 to R-134a, but keep in mind that R-134a is now being considered for phasing out too.

Also, you sound pretty knowledgeable & shops have worked on it too....where's that A904 leaking?

Mine leaked from the gear selector shaft seal, easy to replace with tranny installed.

Welcome to the site! Looking forward to the restoration thread!

Wow those are gorgeous cars . I'm a bit confused now you want to restore a restored charger?

Ah OK makes sense I'm doing the same on my rallye it was a decent looking/driving car when I got it but it needed help
