Hello everyone, i need some help!!!!

I have an 72 dodge charger 400. I went crank it up one morning and it didnt do anything but make a clicking noise. So i tryed to jump it off next thing i know my jumper cables start melting. But before all of that happen my ammeter have being stuck to the left for a little while now, BUT IT WAS STILL RUNNING. So now i change out my Safety neutral switch which was stuck, starter relay,AND BATTERY. Then i tryed to bypass the ammeter and now when i turn the igntion switch it wont do nothing at all!!!! I need Help PLEASE

Don't know why your cables were smoking? Are they too small a gauge for jumping a car? How long did it crank before they started smoking?

Guessing here, but you might have blown the fusable link that powers everything in the car. Do you have any headlights?

fusible link is in my mind too. the head lights are NOT on a fuse . if they dont work....check all the fusible links. its a big chunk built in to the wire usually with a tab on it. theres one on the starter relay I believe.

Sounds like you hooked up the cables backwards.

Well thanks everyone I found out my problem. I bypass my ammeter the wrong way.

To bypass the ammeter, hook the two wires together that attach to the two posts for the ammeter. Best bet would be to solder them together then heat shrink over, that is if you're looking to bypass...Sounds like that fusible link was the root of your headache, but one question is why did it blow? Crossed jumped cables?

Hey everyone lately i been having to jump my car off every time after i drive it for a while.. But after a couple of days i go back to try to crank it and it start right up.... any help!!!
