‘66polycharger

Hello. Randy from Michigan here, long time mopar guy. Spent a good portion of my childhood racing (in my head) dad’s 1970 barracuda. New to sign up but a long time creeper to the site. About a year ago I was able to purchase ‘66 charger. Mostly all complete minus the drivers door panel. I found one and have it all installed. The charger had been sitting in a barn from what we could tell based on registrations for 34. Believe it to have been a one family car, we think “grandma” bought it and after passing her son took and put it up. My buddy ended up buying the farm and the car was left. Being a Chevy guy he asked me to get it out of there. It took us a couple months but we were able to get the motor running. After that had to let it sit until my garage was completed so I had a comfy place to work. Over winter and spring we have so far replaced all of the brakes from the master cylinder out, fuel system from the tank to the pump, radiator, water pump, thermostat, trans filter, rear end (original 2.94’s were getting noisy and added 3.55’s with sure grip), rear springs, shocks (kicking myself for not taking advice and spending on the bilsteins like recommended here),rebuilt the carb, local muffler shop bent up some exhaust (have a little clearance issues at the shocks I’ll have to look into), freed up the rear windows, really put some elbow grease into cleaning (still finding evidence of mice every time I rip into something), adjusted valves and gave it some timing. I’m sure there is more but getting long winded on the list. Plan on “grandmas car” being a rolling restore little at a time when the kids aren’t asking for money. Would like to keep it as original as possible with some factory type upgrades. We have put quite a few miles on it at this point maybe getting up near 1000 already. Hoping we can keep driving through the summer months and start putting a to do list together for winter. Few pics of the charger where we found and after some serious cleaning. Its not perfect but a blast to drive, and I’m sure I can find a little trouble with the poly under the hood.
