Hi everybody. Just joined as i saw this was the place to be for information on my upcoming 318 to 360 swap on my 86 Camperwagon! Looks like a super friendly place and I look forward to learning and getting to know you. :headbang:

Hi and welcome aboard!
Thanks for joining the forum.

One question is why do you want to swap the 360 for the 318?
Im assuming the 318 is worn out?
Have you thought of a re-build of the 318?
It might be cheaper.
Is "power" a factor?

Any, welcome aboard!

Thanks :) The 318 has just over 100k on it so it is a bit tired. But even rebuilt I don't think it would have the Torque that we need for those super steep mountains in BC. Additionally we will in the next 2-3 years be modding it and putting 4x4 in it, and than it will see some pretty steep rough terrain so we are also planning ahead for that. Right now if you stop on any hill with a bit of a steep incline it is hard for the old-girl to make it up. It is more for the Torque than anything else that we want to swap for the 360.

Thanks the rest of you also for the welcome!

Which part of Canada?

Montreal for the next 5 months and than back to BC!

Just a heads up...if you stay on the highways, the mountains in BC aren't as steep as they look. :)

Hey, show us a picture of your project!

There are some pretty wicked Highway hills to, the Salmo Creston for example is a beast (I was born and raised in BC :) ). I'll post a picture of Bruno later tonight if I have time :D

Staying on Highways is boring!

Welcome to FBBO from warm & sunny NorCal

you could do a 4" stroker in the 318 too = 390+ci
{360 would be cheaper, not better though}
If it's torque your after
some head mods, bigger valves, more compression, better-cam-carb-intake-exhaust

Post the questions in the General discussion forum,
you'll get far more responses too...
This is just the welcome wagon, it's really not anywhere near the viewers either &
it's really not intended as a Q&A Tech section either...

good luck with the campervan
