In my 68 dodge, the chrome 3 spoke horn piece that attaches to the stearing wheel keeps falling off. I have put the screws back in it twice and after about a couple days of driving, it falls off again. It appears that the metal is just deteriated and the screws don't hold it any more. Do I need to fork over the money for another one, or does anyone have any ideas to fix it?

Here are some pics.

Try putting a small drop of red locktite on them! If that doesn't work it's probably time for a different setup.

Not a bad Idea. I guess if I need to ever take it off again, I can replace it then...

Thanks!

Could you dril and tap the next size larger?

If the next size is TOO big, try a metric screw. Sometimes they are just enough different to bite new threads.

You COULD just try a metric screw first.

It has to fit through the horn ring, so it doesn't have much room for larger sizes. The metric screw idea seems like it would work though... I'll go play with it tomorrow and see what happens. If I can't find a larger screw that works, I'll use the locktite.
