Hi Forum members, I need a little help. I have a Factory power disc brake car 1968 Plymouth GTX 440 the master cylinder leaked all the fluid out on the floor over the last couple weeks. I say weeks but it may have only been a day I don't know for sure. I do want to keep the car factory original and since I have changed very little I would like to find a rebuild kit for the master cylinder. On the bottom its stamped Bendix 2 2226821 I would guess is the casting number. It has two output on the engine side (passenger) and is cast iron. Its old and rusty and I would like to clean it up and rebuild it if at all possible.. Anyone with information or can help locate parts please please let me know I have spent 2 hours so far on the net with no results better than rebuilt cardone 10-1475 which is not a matching proper part... I am told it will work but I prefer to rebuild mine or find a rebuilt that's correct.. thanks Rich

Did you try rock auto? I have got re-build kits there for some of my cars.

If that Dorman part isn't correct, I would give Wayne "The Ramman" a call. I'm sure he can get you set up.

I don't doubt if this is a fit but if I go to the page and check fit it says it is not the part for my car... any ideas?

I don't pay attention to those checks. If your MC bore is 1", and you have a drum/drum setup, it is pretty much guaranteed to fit correctly. If you have something different, check different applications at your local parts store.

So I contacted the ram man, Wayne, he answered my question but only sort of.. His explanation, send it to me and I can rebuild it, 245.00 or I can send you a kit 75.00... Also if you want the kit consult your insurance and make sure its paid up both auto and health. He said the 2226821 is rare and hard to come by these days so rebuilding mine is the only choice. So I sent it in.. I will post what it looks like when I get it back... The nicest looking car broke down on the side of the road is one thing. The nicest looking car at the scene of an accident I would rather not experience...

LOL. Yeah, he is quite the character. But he sure does know Mopar brakes.

AS a follow up so anyone to come along later has things to look up.. Cardone 10-1475 is a match in the fact the outside and hose fittings fit in the stock location. It lacks the proper casting number but for under 75.00 it is a functional and proper master cylinder for the b body, passenger side exit power disc brake master cylinder. I am going to install this since it will be a few weeks before Wayne the ramman can get mine back to me.. I don't know exactly what his definition of a few weeks is but in the mean time I can drive the car and put the one he returns to me on the shelf to re-install should the need arise... Thanks for your support..
