well its been awhile and i haven't forgot you all either. life goes different directions sometimes is all.

-anyway, a very good friend of mine from vancouver called and asked if i could perhaps help him out with a dilemma he has with a 70 non mopar car he has sitting in oshkosh wi.. problem is, it is sitting at somebody's place that has no room and needs the car out of his garage before the winter weather gets set in. he needs somewhere to move it to till shipping can be arranged or at the outside till spring and him or myself will go fetch it. he is not looking for free by any means, just reasonable. we all know what usually happens if you just start calling places from the yellow pages, bend over time. lol reasonable inside would be preferred but secure outside will do also and i/him would buy a cover and have it shipped to where it is and compensate for having it put on.
-so, if there is somebody from oshkosh who can lend a hand it would be greatly appreciated and obviously reciprocal if ever needed. like i said, he is a very good friend or i wouldn't be asking and you only have so few very good ones. needed, 1-reasonable priced towing, 2-reasonable price storage, 3-able to put on a cover if needed for a secure outside spot and 4-hopefully thank you in advance. rick

recommend as a incentive offer to buy the helper b a membership to AAA. cost of one short tow is more then the membership and you get three with the membership. They might be able to help you find storage. I got the rv package so includes a 150 mile tow plus the three short, lock out and roadside. also flat bed if one of my bikes leave stranded. sweet deal if you are running older cars. https://www.google.com/webhp?source...espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=aaa tow insurance oscosh wi

Most require the insured drive to be with the vehicle to sign the tow ticket but do not care whom owns the vehicle.

why not just rent a storage unit near the car and keep it there for the winter??
locked up,safe n sound?

there is no doubt that is a way to go but when you are 1500 mi away from there in any direction you are pretty much at the mercy of whoever you find in the yellow pages. i was thinking maybe someone on here from oshkosh might know someone who could handle something like this who is reputable, is all. he is not looking for free by any means, just don't break it off after he is bent over sort of thing. i know of a couple of guys in my area who could handle something like this who are reputable that i wouldn't be nervous giving their name out if it was a similar situation on my end and it would be safe and at reasonable costs. i am just taking a shot at it sort of thingy. old car guy to old car guy sort of thing. rick

i pulled something similar to that some years ago. i needed a tow one night and i called a company who i knew the owner. he come did the job and when i asked how much he asked if i had a membership to a certain canadian club and i said no. he said to get signed up the next day and he would put the bill in a week or so later. smart thinking on his part as the friend price would of been a lot cheaper than the club price for the tow and i ended up with a free membership not paying the friend price. i kept that up for some years but they got sticky on the fact that my daily driver was in my company name and they wanted more money being a company vehicle. that ended it.

I have never had to show insurance card in 20 + years with them just the AAA card and on occasionaly drivers licence .

Are the people who own the place where the car is now of any help in getting it relocated?

yes to the point of moving it or loading it as there is no plates or insurance on it. it will be moved somewhere, i was just thinking/hoping someone in oshkosh might know of somewhere considered reasonably safe. inside best but outside ok as he will pay to have a cover put on etc. the big thing is not getting hijacked on the price as is what usually happens in a situation like this.
i kinda feel a little guilty as i got him into this old car thing a couple of years ago when i sold him a 68 f truck. whats going on here with this situation is all his doing though. lol the best ending right now would be getting it shipped west reasonably.

I'm not far from Oshkosh. I might be able to help out, but I just started a new job and my schedule is all over the place. My free time is limited right now, and I wouldn't be able to do anything until at least next week, though. We had snow here on Friday, but it didn't get as far north as Oshkosh. Any hard date on when it needs to be moved out of it's present location? Does it drive, or will it have to be winched onto a trailer? A reasonable towing company would probably be the way to go for moving it.
