im trying to decide if i should buy a 1968 dodge dart gts 340 auto car or a 1972 charger 318 auto car please help i cant decide~~!??:eusa_think:

I've been an A body guy for a lot of years. Although I had two Chargers in high school, from there, I went A bodies. They are easy to make fast. Stupid proof you might say. But now that I am older, I like the ride and feel of a larger car. The A bodies kinda beat you to death in comparison. Much more affordable exhaust and engine mounting options. Big blocks fit easily. If the Charger is in good shape body wise, it should be a no brainer.

And in my case fatter, the only thing I don't like about my A is the fact I smack my head quite often getting in.

I'd say the 68 Dart GTS 340 for my 1st pick of those 2, unless the 72 318 Charger is perfect or something, or if the Dart is a rust bucket, I-M-H-O the Dart would be a better investment at this time... Not that I don't like the Gen 3 Chargers, I really do like them, I want one some day, preferably a 71 Super Bee/Charger R/T, the base 318 Charger's are still extremely cheap/reasonably priced & plenty available for now, shape that's a different story all together....

You don't leave us much to go on, i.e.: condition...color...options...mods (good or bad) already done...Price for each...PHOTOS? Photos would be nice. Neither is overly complicated, but the Dart is less complicated. Typically, I see fewer `72 Chargers than `68 Darts. That may be just because some did not view them as much a muscle car...Not me though (says the guy driving a Poly 318 `66 Belvedere II). Which one do YOU like better?

Are they the same price?
Technically the 68 GTS is a more valuable car. (Market wise)
I DID have a 1972 SE Charger "400" 727 trans while stationed at Dayton, OH.
Now that was one sweet car!

I can relate, I've sold far too many cars, for not so good reasoning, :argue: but it seemed good at the time...

Well.......I had TWO Chargers when I was in the 10th grade in 1980. A 73 340 Rallye car and a 71 R/T, 440, slap stick, dana, 4.10 gears. Both had power bulge hood, both matching number cars. Yes, life was good. I was an impossible brat to live with. lol But in my defense, both cars bought and paid for by ME, insured by ME kept up by ME. I sold both cars to a vacationing "investor" who had traveled to Florida from somewhere up north. Lets say at the time, I THOUGHT I was rollin in money......and I was. But damn, what those would be worth today. I am so glad I found another B body. I may end up being buried in it. lol

Both sound real good, I love the looks of those Chargers but most everyone likes the Dart GTS and it with the 340, Should have done a poll on it, be interesting to see how it would turn out, even being a abody on b body site i think the Dart would do fairly well.
