Hi all,
I have a 70 383 4spd Roadrunner...engine is dated 9/17/68 but this morning I stumbled across the VIN# stamped on the lower passenger side of the block just above the oil pan.The engine block # is 2468130-12 (LL)...it's an early build car (August 1969)...is it possible to have this motor be the original motor?Yes,I'm new to the game and have had the car for only 1 1/2 years. My buddy had it for 15 years and told me it was simply a 68 block but not the original motor...any info/wisdom/experience would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks...Dave

The engine you have is actually an early 69 block. Your car is an early 70 car, so it is possible that the 69 motor would have been used in an early 70 car. If your car was an early enough 70 then the 70 383's may not have been produced yet so they used a left over 69 383 for your car. Remember Never Say Never when it comes to Mopar.

That is your VIN stamped on the block that is the original motor. My 69 Road Runner has my Vin stamped the same place,my block is a 68 casting since my car is a 69 but was built in the fall of 68,my engine was origally painted blue and my beep beep horn is black like the 68s

Remember Never Say Never when it comes to Mopar...man ain't that the truth...my neighbors (Chevy Guys)...have been all over this car telling me this and that...then I had to explain to them what the bars connected to the LCAs where called...nuff said...waiting until tomorrow to place a call into the Govier office even though it says they no loner do fender tags.I'm hoping this might be somewhat different...the Odyssey continues...

These are the other marks on the upper-front of the engine (passenger side) just behind the distributor...
