How do you get the new bushings installed on the wiper linkage?

I used a small C-clamp....seemed to work pretty good.

Ok, we tried to do it by placing a couple large washers over bushing and squeezing it in with the vice. That crushed the widest point going through the hole and basically destroyed the bushing. Then I watched a YouTube video where the guy placed the inserted bushing over a socket and hit it through with a rubber mallet. But to me, that plastic seems very stiff and I find it hard to believe it will squeeze through the hole and rebound to its original shape once it’s all the way through. Or am I wrong on that?

Only one way to find out.
I have always found that a little silicone grease does wonders on pieces like that.

Ya the title wasn’t great. It was in the heat of the moment when we were working on the bench. This is the only pic I got.

I just did this task a few days ago. Yes , some grease helps and hitting it over the socket works. I had to use a hammer. I does go on but it takes a pretty good blow . Hit it square on
As they are easy to ruin with a glancing blow

I've had them go in real easy, and they didn't last long. And had ones like yours that are very tough to install. I suggest softening them up in some hot water and use a lubricant.
