Hi guys. Well I laid my rug out in the backyard to soften in up before installing it. I have had this rug for about 10 years from Y.O ( IT IS A A.C.C RUG )..... HERE IS THE PROBLEM- IT IS ALLREADY SHORT FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND I NEVER TOOK A BLADE TO IT. The question is can I make a cut down the entire middle to pull it to the left and right? My thinking is my center console will cover the entire cut I make down the middle. I am not sure how far my center console goes forward. NEED SOMEONE TO TELL ME HOW FAR FORWARD THE CONSOLE ENDS AND IF A CUT DOWN THE MIDDLE WILL SHOW FRONT OR BACK. Its not going back because lost the original box but probably have the reciept ( plus it is there word against mine on the rough cut side to side ):blob1:.Thanks.

Thanks. I cant believe this freakin thing. It is one problem after another. If I recall you may be able to put your hand up front in front of the console ( but one small cut in the center may not show up ). As for the back of the rug. I need to know if the back of the front rug will be totally under the console. I just dont want to drag mine out yet. Thanks.

Sorry Dave, I didn't get by the bodyshop today, I will go by there tomorrow and tkae pictures and measure.

Hi Dave. If I recall. The cut may show up front by the heater ,but should not show towards the back of the front rug because it is totally under the center console. I think you can put your hand through to the otherside near the heater up front but may be wrong. No rush. Thanks.

I would order new carpet and do it right...

The rug is in place right now relaxing. It is going to be close. Buying a new rug really would suck, but will do that if I have too. Thanks.

Dave, the console is 12 inches from the shifter to the front. You can see the carpet under the dash. The console is 32 from the shifter to the rear. My carpet is a one piece so I don't know if it will show or not in the rear.

Hi Dave. You you mean 12 inches to the front. IS THAT WHEN IT IS IN PARK I ASSUME?

Thanks. I thought it would probably show in the front. It is going to be close. I will have to see what I am going to do now that you gave me the console measurements. The factory cut it on a angle so under the dash may be all right side to side. Thanks again.

my carpet is the same way. i thought the guy i bought the car from had cut it too short, now reading this maybe not... what is a good carpet to replace it with?

Too narrow !!!!

Dave : I feel your PAIN!!! My rug was also from Year One & i bought it for my 70 4 speed Charger back in 2000. I went to install it in my car in March 2010. It was black & made by A.C.C. also & was also 2 inches too narrow on both sides  ,from the front of the sill plates to the fire wall ,along by the kick panels!!!! :angryfire: Couldn`t cut this down the middle as it`s a bucket seat, buddy seat, pistol grip 4 speed. :headbang:
Here`s what i ended up doing. There was about 3 inches of extra width underneath my sill plates so i cut 2 - 2 inch strips, about a foot long, from there and then used super trim adhesive spray, to fasten some jute backing to the under side of the carpet missing the strip of black & then glued 2 inch by 12 inch pieces to that, so now the carpet goes up under my kick pads like it should. It looks good & you can`t tell ,but it shouldn`t have been like that in the first place. That`s why i say "Good Used Original, Always Beats Aftermarket"

By the way, How did you ever make out with your rear window moulding problem?

Hello guys. Looks like I am not alone. Most carpets are made by ACC and distributed to vendors ( YEAR ONE, PADDOCK AND OTHERS ). The problem is I don't want another one like the one I got and cant believe they cut them this close. I have been stretching my A$$ off and it is going to be close ( NOTHING LIKE STARTING OFF BEHIND THE EIGHT BALL ). Who wants to order one and have to ship it back. The whole sending back thing is a pain to everyone I bet.:blob1:

Hello. I cant believe you had to do that , but would probably end up with the same problem if you ordered another one. I may be all right till it shrinks. As far as the back glass. There is a small gap on the radius on the lower back trim I might have to black silicone . I Bought new clips and will install them tomorrow. When I run into a problem I move onto something else so I can keep on moving on this project. Snapped in the front glass molding tonight ( NOT HAPPY WITH THE LOWER ENDS BECAUSE THEY WING OUT AND TRYING TO FIGURE A WAY TO KEEP THEM DOWN SINCE THERE IS NO CLIP UNDER THAT SECTION ). Thanks for the rug suggestion and the window follow up. Enjoy your weekend.:hello2:
