Help save our race track

So, what is the money for? The owner? To buy the track? Is the whole place 350K? If not.....Seems like a hostage situation for the racers.

Seems to be a whole lot more questions than answers. That article is a clear as mud....... And yes in the end the racers get the screw....

Here it is in a nutshell.

The owner is dug in at 1.7 millon. An offer to buy is 1.4 mil. The Buffalo News article from said owner is he won’t sell for less.

The racers are moving forward to close that gap. As we all know, once shes gone, shes gone.

Thanks again to anyone who might donate or pass this on.

I should add the gofundme is not a down payment. It is the deal closer.

As I understand if the track is not bought the gofundme is returned.

They have bounced this track from one owner to another the last few year, but this last guy has made some improvements. I don't understand why we can't make this place go. We have people from Canada come down and this is a heavily populated area, enough to support a track. Don't know where the problem is. I like the 1/8 mile track, less wear and tear on the car. The owner has brought in some good shows and the Niagara weekend sees a lot of cars from a few hundred miles radius. Think the oval competition is lacking the last few years.
The way home prices are rising here, I would be surprised if some builder comes in and scoops it up. This is sad to hear. I'll kick in to keep it. I remember what happened to Niagara..

disclamer:
don't take what I have to say as a negative
just my thoughts, thinking outloud

we have lost some 25+ tracks out here
I hate to see any of them go away

if it's $1.7 million,
liability insurance is a killer, it's a huge/big part of gate $$$
either way
that's gonna' be a 'tough nut'/payment to pay every month
only open what 7-8 maybe 9 months of the year
just saying, might be a tough sell no matter what

Maybe they need to do wed. or thr./fri night brackets
& every weekend a small race, weather permitting
to make that "nut", more the better
maybe get some match/grudge races going

if the dirt track runs more or helps keep the doors/gates open
but it still cost $$$ to run it too, it's not like free $$$

is there any room to da go-carts ?
or 1/4 midgets or legends etc. ?
that might be a thought too
get younger kids involved, in motor sports
Jr. Dragsters (?)
groom the next generation of gear-heads

Monster trucks, motocross (?)
Tough truck or even rock crawling
bring in dirt or rocks make tracks or obstacles on
or in the infield of the 'roundy round track'

Diesel events, truck & PU races is big now too (?)

I too like an 1/8 mile race, car is put thru the ringer
'on a short track', that is, if you want to do it well/correct
but I raced a lot more 1/4 mile tracks, is just my preference
it's what the sport was known for (tradition) & what it was built on
(no offence intended/meant)

Also IMO, I don't think it's much if any, less wear & tear
at least not on a car properly set up, to do the best in the 1/8 mile
it's just less land, shorter track to maintain,
probably less seating for spectators too
you still have to have all the same amenities/infrastructure
food & beverage, bathrooms, safety equipment estc.
either on the cars & track stuff as a 1/4 mile,
to do a 1/8 mile race

concessions, even swag,
can make a huge difference in the income
Boy scouts & Girl scouts or even school groups (?)
car washes or fund raisers etc.

maybe car clubs, do some car shows
do some fox hunts 'ladies free',
to get their boyfriends to come out

maybe tractor pulls if there's an area to do it

bikini contests, jet cars, motorcycle races
biker events
all the a-typical cheesy ****,
you need to do, to get people in the gate
& to keep them coming back

you need a steady stream of future generations
to get interested

sounds like they need to promote the track better
radio & tv even newspaper adds,
you get 5-10 fold or more times, what you spend in advert.
in profit
Just to keep it going, keep it profitable
maybe get a racers board or group to help it get up & going
volunteers etc.
sometimes it takes more than just an owner, to do it right

maybe even
grease some local politicians too, get them involved
show them what it's all about
get kids of the street, youth activities etc.
(that'll piss off all the ol' farts :poke:
Maybe try to have the track land designated
or rezoned for
either commercial/industrial
&/or a track only zoning
so it can't be turned into a housing development

you may have to get proactive & think outside the box

maybe get a known group like the Street Outlaws
or some other 'no prep' deal there
need some notoriety, names etc. to get & keep butts in the seats
or any of the newest trends to get butts in the seats

don't be negative be positive, try to get people involved
negative Nancy BS, won't do it

good luck, I feel for you guys

sorry for the short book

Here’s the thing. The place is not for sale because its a loser. Its for sale because the owner want to focus on other investments.

Its zoned light industrial. It borders the NY thruway and a landfill. Nobody is going to build a house anywhere near this land.

Everything mentiond above is being done there. They race drags on Tuesday and Friday. Circle on Saturday plus added show of either on other days. Cruise nights, monster trucks etc. Street Outlaws were there two years ago. Last year they were scheduled but had tv taping commitments due to the wet spring. The place is doing fine aside from the asking price, this would be a done deal.

Oh yeah... I like the go cart idea as there is a small oval inside the big one. They run 3/4 midgets there too.

That was a scary typo. :D

Good luck with the fundraising. 350K doesn't sound like a lot to make up if there is enough interest in the track.
I assume you guys have some sort of club helping out with fundraising?

What's the latest news?

I understand that Paul Cambria bought it along with Antenelli and maybe a third party. I heard it from another lawyer who thought it to be true ..But ?

Two local guys bought the track. Great news for the racers here. Its a multipurpose track. Circle and drag. The threat of closing brought some renewed interest so we shall see.
