I have a 68 charger parts car that sat out in a pasture for 30 years and have been trying to get the passengers door open with no luck. From what I can hear, the linkage is good but the latch is frozen on the striker. I have tried spraying penetrating oil in from all angles but I don't seem to be making any progress. Is it time to get out the torch? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I had a buddy with a Chebbie that had the same problem. He had to remove the door panel to access the latch from inside. If the seat is still in the car you will probably have to pull that out to remove the interior door panel..

I got the door panel out without removing the seat and really soaked the door mechanism with penetrating oil. After about an hour of working the door in and out, the "star wheel" broke loose and the door opened. I would have never got it from the outside. Thanks.

That's good to hear, I'm glad it worked for you in such a short time.

Parts car eh? Why not put up a picture and see how many people try to convince to that it's restorable. :)

Looks way better in pics. Rear springs are touching the top of trunk.

Glad you were able to get it open. Why do the pictures always look better?

It is hard to tell by those photos if that car is 'restorable' (looks like it may have been rear-ended?). I do see LOTS of usable/ sellable parts: wiper arms (& wiper linkage under dash), front bumper, steering wheel, gauge cluster, console, seats, glass, steering box, headlight covers, steering column,...I could go on.

Is that a 'torque chain' on the driver side of that 318 with 2bbl? Lol!
