I give up! This one is driving me nuts- can someone please help with decoding this? My main interest is what engine was originally in this car. Thank you!!

Just doing a quick Google search, I believe the 3 under the A is the engine code and that would be a 361.

I'm sure better experts on the early years will chime in.

We need the fourth number of you vin for the plant. Different plants used different letters over the engine code.

The plant for a "2" is Hamtramck MI.

Engine would be found under the Q-R.
Under the A is Transmission.

If there's not any letter under the Q or R than it came with the Standard engine.

If that's a 3 under the A then that's a 343 code for a Torque Flight "6 cylinder" only.
