I need help please or maybe some reassurance. I've got motive gears and a 7290 yoke (not a billet one) going together and they are not lining up right. The diameter and the spline count are there but the shape of the splines are off. The guy I bought these parts from informed me of this but I don't remember him telling me so now I'm stuck in this predicament. He said if I put grease or anti-seize on the splines and press the yoke on I'll be ok. The problem is during the shimming process the yoke has to come off multiple times so my question is has anybody been through this and did taking the yoke off the pinion multiple times ruin thier pinion shaft?

There are splines and involute splines, they are different.

A square type and rounded type, yes you should have pressed the end yoke on and off the pinion before ever assembling it, when it became loose enough to come off without serious effort.

Take it back out and press it on and off a few times.

There are a few diffs this is a issue with, not just the mopar, i have had this issue with gm's also
