Help with new fuel filler neck please.

70 Belvedere. I just replaced my tank with an AMD unit, new straps, new grommet, new filler neck.

I used the 70 style grommet as referenced by Dadsbee in May.

Question: Can anyone confirm that the rounded end of the grommet goes in first?

Main Question: Does the raised bead on the filler neck tube go into a feature in the grommet, or just butt up to the grommet? I am out of travel and it won’t go into the grommet.

Yep, makes a lot more sense when the rounded bellow-like section is outside of the tank to encapsulate the upset portion of the filler neck. Thanks!
