One of my co-workers went on a two-day business trip last week using a rental car, and he left his own ride here at the office. He got back on Friday and everything was fine until he tried to go home. He had just filled the truck up before his trip thinking he would be taking it vice a rental, but surprise... his fuel gauge read E. Turns out some crap bag siphoned out about 17 gallons of gas from his tank and left him dry.

Looks like it's time to start looking for a lockable gas cap again!

What kind of vehicle is this on? I thought all the 'newer' cars had a roll over check ball in the fill tube which doubled as an anti siphon device? My 95 Dakota had one in it until I took that bastard out!

Probably some one in your office/work that knew he was gone for a couple days.

Just a "snap-shot" of the THUGS running around in America these days!
They dont have to work, it's an "Entitlement" nation.
Yes: unfortunately, it IS happening all across America.

And many are getting shot for that kind of crap too....

we caught our guys with company secruity camera turned out to be co worker

its getting bad all over.with gas pricing continually going up i think it is just going to get worse.video is not stopping any of them either.two doors down just got broke into bad,and the guy across the street has a 6 foot square sign that states you are on camera.he has six armored cameras on the front of his house and cought the whole robbery on video.the theives didnt even care about the cameras and even flipped the bird to them several times while stripping the other house.step into my house buddy,i got a 44 mag round with your name on it!

I doubt it was a co-worker. We make way too much money for someone to be sucking the gas out of a truck. Our guess is it's one of the landscapers in the area. Lots of gas containers and they are around enough to notice a vehicle that hasn't moved in a while.

Don't know how much is too much to make for someone not to be stealing but as a machinist in a major refinery, we did ok and there were many of others that made as much or more and still stole stuff left and right. And it's kinda crazy to see someone that made 100k+ stealing.....

Big difference between making off with tools and sucking gas out of a tank at midnight. :)

Speaking of how much is too much, when I was in the Navy and based at Bermuda, I worked at a secure building that was accessed by walking up a fenced in walkway with security cameras on you the whole way. To keep ourselves amused, we would glue quarters down on the ground along the walkway to watch people see them and bend over to pick them up, then see how long it would be before they gave up.

One time, we were visited by the guy who's equivalent to the Secretary of the Navy for the Royal Navy, and we wondered if a guy like that made enough money that he would pass by a quarter. :) We glued the quarter down before he got there. Our Officer-in-Charge (OIC), base CO, and a host of other VIPs were in reception waiting for this guy and his entourage to show up. So into view comes the RN SECNAV and he stops halfway down the walkway and looks down, and our O-in-C yelled "you guys didn't!", but we had. The Brit started to bend over, stopped halfway to the quarter, and started looking around. He looked right at the camera, smiled, and winked at us. :) We buzzed the door open for him, and he started laughing as soon as he came in and said "almost had me there didn't you." Everyone had a good laugh, and we got reamed afterwards by pretty much the whole chain of command, but it was worth it. If he hadn't spotted that camera, he would have gone for the quarter. :)

Nobody is above stealing no matter how much money they make they may not be stealing gas but they are stealing just the same. Busnesses marking up products [100-150%] for resale, folks cheating on their taxes, Government officials manipulating rules for their own personal gain. Some folks steal just for the thrill, i'll bet it's some one in your employee pool or a nearby person that would see the vehicle hasn't moved. My moneys on an employee.

Put a sign up in Spanish where the car was telling them they know who they are and immigration is on the way to beat the **** out of them and get the gas back......

Are you sure it wasn't the humungus? according to Mad Max if you give him the gas he will let you all go free! You have the word of the humungus!

A couple months ago, the local Police called me at 2am at home, they caught a guy siphoning 15 gallons of diesel out of a customers truck into his car. Problem was, his car has a gas engine and he couldn't make it out of the parking lot when the cops showed up. They arrested him and towed his fouled up ride to the impound yard. Between bail, court costs, tow and impound fees that was probably the most expensive 15 gallaons of fuel he ever "pumped":icon_fU:

look at the advert. on top of the page Super Siphon Gas Siphon, "fastest siphon" 5 gallons in 90 seconds, that's freaken' way too funny...

Holy crap man, seems like gravity doesn't work in you neighborhood. Every time you turn around stuff is just floating away. Didn't you just install security cameras? What do you need to do next? Install guard towers with mounted fifties? Did you check the corner for the only guy hanging out NOT smoking a cigarette?

They don't care if its in broad daylight here, They caught a guy in a local town a few months back that was coming on peoples property during the day and stealing things out of garages and sheds.. Paper said he laughed at them when he got caught.. Gas is worth gold anymore, I used to buy one of those coiled wire jobs coned shaped to shove down the filler pipe in the older cars..

The last time I shot an intruder was in 1985 when my neighbor came to my door telling me something was attacking his dog. I grabbed an M-16A1 I was working on and ran next door. He shot his flashlight around, and we saw about a 9-foot gator swallowing what was left of his terrier. It turned its head towards us and opened its mouth, and I let fly with all thirty rounds of .223 that were in the mag, on full auto, which of course brought every cop within earshot.

Anyway, I showed the cops my paperwork for the rifle, and all was cool. The gator was shredded pretty well, and one of the cops picked up a leg that had been torn away and said "did you hear they charge when they're wounded or something?" :) I told him I was a Pittsburgh boy, and we don't have gators wandering around our backyards up North, so as soon as that gator opened its mouth at me, I let him have it.

Bruzilla... That's too funny, 1 well placed shot would have done it, But it's a way better story your way, Pittsburgh boy full auto empty the magazine/clip, I love it...

Someone glued down 4 100 dollars bills (copies of course) in front of the tool room window. It was nuts to see how many bent down to try and pick them up. And we have plenty of gators around here to the point I don't go looking for them anymore and never go unarmed lol
