..... with factory motor mounts....I need a HUGE favor . can one of you guys PLEASE measure the space between the TOP of the K member to the OIL PAN lip ???????
it will only take a minute ! LOL
PLEASE and THANK YOU!!

Approximately 2 3/4" from the bolt surface of the pan to the top of the K

*1974 Charger with 383 currently (originally 318) original Spool mount ISO K member. The pan is the required 971 pan.*

Sorry the stupid tape measure kept reflecting the flash but shows up with no flash but nothing else does lol

i am using a 699 pan , which also works .

how did you mount your BB on the SB K member?

BB and SB spool mount ISO K members are the same but the passenger side inner fender is different but will fit...barely.

Here are the BB spool monts and numbers you need for the SB to BB swap.

those are exactly what i used. but here is the deal, i mounted up the trans first so that my factory floor shifter brackets and everything are where they are supposed to be and lined up. the engine mounts were about 1 - 1 1/2 too far back to sit in the perches. i had to do some creative cutting and spacing along with mounting them on the front side of the bosses to get them to sit in the perches. also the drivers side perch was hitting the oil pump. did you do your mounts first and then the trans mount?if so, didnt you have an issue lining up the trans mount? sorry for the long winded reply. it seems some people have issues and others dont with the isolated K member/spool mounts when trying to drop a BB in a SB K member.

nope no issues here, I will take a couple more pix tomorrow showing the mounts for ya because I cant remember for the life of me how they are bolted to the blocks ears.

Note: The ISO K was mounted with the old rubber biscuits but I have replaced em with aluminum ones from Cudazappa and that didnt move anything from stock either

Hi

I did the conversion on my 79 xe SB car to a 440 and at 1st kept the originak K-member and modified it to adapt. Although it worked the motor was not 100% in the right place . It was sitting about 5/8 " too high and things were rattling touching.
I saw people with those easy way out schumacher mounts and again it wasn't right.
I found a 78 cordoba with a BB got the k member from it and swapped it out. It took about 4 hrs but let me tell you it was the best thing I did everytjhing was right, and lined up perfectly just as if it came from the factory.
My advise and because I lived the experience is get the right k-member to begin with you will be much happier and it will be right.

unfortunately , a new K member just isnt in the cards right now , but i may end up doing it later on down the road. if you still have the car , maybe you could measure from the k member to the pan rail for me for comparison?

I appologise for not getting back right away, it's been a busy start to Spring break and along with the better weather I've been trying to be outside as much as possible.

I took pics of the engine mounts in the car though it was difficult to get clear pictures of the drivers side with the powere steering box and pump in the way. Hope fully you can see that the mount is very close to the oil pump but beleive me ot's not touching nor was the mount massaged in any way.

Now I also bolted the lose mounts I have to the 383 Block that eventually will be going into the car (so that I may clean up the engine bay) so that you can actually see how they are to be bolted just in case there is anyone looking at this thread for that info.
