Met a guy says he has a 318 poly motor that came from the factory with two four barrel carbs on a stock cast iron manifold.
motor is rebuilt but has been sitting for a number of years..
My question is did Ma Mopar make such an animal? If so what year and what cars were they available in?
Any input helpful. I can buy this motor if I want.
Thanks
Ed

I believe it was the "V800" option on the 1957-1958 Plymouth Fury

thanks for the replies guys. I may just pick this motor up if the price is right.

They had a 303 cid poly in 1956 that came in the Fury. You could get the 2 4's on it as well. I think there is an "f" in the number on the motor if it is from an a Fury. Cool find.

Is this a 318 Poly or an earlier 354, 331 etc? I have heard of the early '60s Polys coming in cop cars and offering the iron 2x4 intake as the "interceptor package". Not sure what would have been done to the internals or exhaust but it would be cool to find out more from the Poly experts.

I remember seeing the smaller Poly engines with the 2 x 4 intake also. Like the 303 and I thought they made a 301 also but not sure. Seems to me they made a 277 poly too but I have to look it up to be sure. But they were cool as I think the 2 four 318 Poly was rated as high as 280 hp ? The Poly is actually a cool eng that I am surprised not many ever did much performance builds on them. I know Plymouth is the only Mopar in the 50's not to get a Hemi eng as the Poly was as close as they got to the Hemi in the 50's but they had some cool Poly engines. Ron
