Anyone have the measurements for the holes that the lightweight hoods had under the scoop?

I'm getting ready to do up another hood for my '63 and would like to know where, exactly, to put them as I don't have a crossram for the car....yet...

it depends on if your using 3447 carter carbs or 3705s carter carbs.
63's usually had the smaller 4.5" holes and 3705 carbs for 64 were 5"

There is a guy on ebay that goes by hemieddy that sells patterns for under the hood to locate the holes. If you search max wedge on ebay his stuff will come up. I have bought from him and he is good.

Hmmm, $32.50 (up from $15.00 a few months ago) to tell me the measurements of two holes in a piece of sheetmetal?!?

Okaaaaaayyyy.....

I have a 63 Dodge Polara, 426 with dual Edelbrocks. I can measure the holes in the hood tomorrow if you want. Mine has the big oval air cleaner covers. See pic and tell me if you want me to measure for you.

Is it an orginal style crossram or and Edelbrock STR (looks like it in the pic)?

I'm going to be going with an A&A reproduction crossram so the Eddy measurements may not be the same.

sorry missed the earlier reply, my bad......

fwi it's an STR15 /8 that I picked up for my 383 awhile ago, was going to go that way but now have a crossrammed RB..

Thanks, it looks just like the manifold I have in my 63......which btw I have been trying to decode as far as model number.

When I had to cut my hood,I made a cardboard hood to use as a template. My hood is a "pin on" so it easy for me.I cut the cardboard untill I liked the way it looked and then overlayed it on the glass hood measured 3 times and cut 1 time:munky2:

why you showing a blower hole?:merror::icon_anal:

Sorry if you don't like my hole:icon_butt:My hole is BIGGER than yours:whip2:There are many ways to make a hole.:black_knight_standi A template cut to the same size as the hood that needs a hole or holes:sex: Use the carb stud to mark the center of the hole if it is to round,a little dab of grease on top of the stud works well. This will work for any application. Now cut the hole in the cardboard to suite your need and lay it on the hood and mark it up.Drill a nice "starter hole" and cut away:chain saw::uwelcome::popcorn::buffer::stpatty1:

Came across this online article a while ago....

http://www.moparmax.com/tech/2007/ii_12-string-1.html

If youre looking for how to position the holes, rather than just what diameter they should be, this is quite useful. Well, it would be if you had the engine with crossram & carbs in situ.... :toothy9:

This method is detailed in Steve Mags` How To Build Altered Wheelbase Cars book, results look really good. Great book too
