How R U all doin? Well i still have yet to get my engine started, due to all kinds of B.S. but hopin to see how she runs in a week or so, well getting to the point can anyone tell me the proper way to wire a holley electric choke carb?I know the ground wire just connects to the carb, where is a good spot to connect the positive wire? any input would be awesome, thanks alot!

If I understood your question, you need to run a wire from the positive side of the electric choke to a power source that is only hot when the key is in the on position. Do you have a spare accessory plug in your fuse box? That should only be hot when the key is on or turned back to the accessory position and will work fine, unless you are planning on sitting in your car listening to the radio in cold weather with the engine off (which would cause your choke to open slowly due to the electric choke receiving power.)

I ran a wire clear around to the fuse box on mine.

I agree with what 72 Charger SE said, only I would be sure to find a terminal that is only hot when the igition is on and not when at accessory position. The Holley manual states that if the electric choke has power for a while with the engine not running it could burn it out because it relies on a small amount of cooling airflow provided by the vacuum of the engine to keep it from overheating.

I agree that running power from a source that is only hot when the ignition is on is the best choice. I only suggested the accessory location since often there is a spare tab in the fuse box marked accessory, and it is easy to hook up with a simple spade connector.

What about if the engine is not in the car yet?

Im gonna be test running my engine really soon before it goes into the car,how should i connect the positive wire then? and thanks for explaining how it works when its in the car!

Since you are just bench testing your engine so to speak I'd just alligator clip it to the battery. Just remember to disconnect it when you shut things down.

If all your going to do is bench run your engine you don't need a choke.

When I run the electric choke, I have tapped into the wiper circuit. Seldom used when running, unless in rain. But in Chebys and Mopes, I have never blown a fuse.

I actually heard that I didnt need to connect the electric choke but it was from a very unreliable source so i was not sure, thanks alot!
