Is it really cheap? If its cheap like a few hundos then why not, but if its close to or over a grand then just buy a fitech. Far better tech in the new TBI setups.
Dude wants 400 for it or to trade a few parts that I have. Its a complete setup. Just wanna know what I might be looking at with my set up.
440 punched. 060 over , pistons sitting .040 in the hole , roughly 10.56 to 1 , 509 cam , stock rockers, 915 heads. - pocket ported , 1 7/8 primaries to dual 2.5 " pipes. Single offenhauser tunnelram , 750 Holley.
Its it even a decent kit. I know its an older setup but if it's a good kit them I'm him to give it a try but I don't really want to throw $$$ away or give good parts away for junk
I dont have any personal experience with that partulicular unit but have read about them over the years when planning my own efi setup. Some guys love them and some claim they are junk. Unlike modern units, they are not self tuning or digital so will require some setup to get it going. Alot of the setup problems come with it being analog. Maybe someone who has one on a mopar will chime in but i honestly cant recall seeing any on my mopar sites i frequent. Most the info i found over the yrs was on chevy and mustang sites and for smallblocks. Makes sense since its basically a reprodution of the factory chevy tbi system.
I would see which version it is...Older technology based on stock gm tbi unit... does it come with the fuel system? If not your looking at another $300 +/-. and how long has fuel been sitting on the injector seats???
If it were me and was wanting to go efi I would just buy a master kit from Fitech or Holley Sniper for $1100+/-.... You would have more features, new technology and have more tuning capabilities....jmho...
I ran one years ago on my Coronet when it was much tamer. It worked very well but was definitely horsepower limited. Once I crossed the 450hp mark it really couldn't keep up. Your setup will be right on the edge. It was super easy to set up and tuning it was pretty simple. The biggest issues guys had was an insufficient electric system. It needed solid power at idle or you would chase the tune constantly. It was pretty cool to be able to go out to the garage in -10 degree weather and fire the car right up and have it stay running smooth as could be. I still have my full setup in case I ever build a cruiser motor again.
I forgot to add if you want to pm me I can answer any questions you may have. I ran mine for a few years and had to go through the initial learning curve when they hit the market kind of like a lot of the guys are experiencing with the FITECH units right now.
According to virtual dyno , my setup should be in the 490hp range so that leaves me with no rim to improve with that system. And yes it comes with the fuel system. Bit that doesn't mean it all works either.
