So I suggested to the webmasters that they replace the home page '70 RR cartoon image with real photos from members albums. OK, I'll admit that caricatured pictures of cars bug me... I want to see the real thing. Before you know it, people started chiming in saying they like the illustration on the home page. So here's the poll:

What image do you want to represent FBBO on the home page?

- Keep the current illustration of the black RR with over sized wheels.

- Have a rotating set of images from member's photos, if this is possible to do from a site development standpoint.

- Vote on ONE member's picture of their mighty B Body to be put on the home page permanently.

Possible problems with the above options- copyright issues if an image isn't really someone's car, constant moaning and groaning if people don't like the picture chosen, everyone voting for their own car to be displayed. And hey, the webmasters may very well ignore this thread, since it's their site and they can put whatever they jolly well please on the home page. But hey, what would a car forum be without discussion about what's better?

Here's an idea -- assuming that rotating pix of member rides can be added to the home page, what if this was a benefit of Gold membership? Might motivate more people to at least consider it... of course, there'd have to be rules, like "no primer." :)

I'd also be careful about randomizing from member galleries -- one of the pix in my gallery, for instance, is just my garage floor with an "Imported From Detroit" inlay. :icon_question:

I voted pick one and leave it permanently, but I don't really mean permanent. Got you confused yet? Have it for Gold Members rides..of which I can't afford but would love to..., voted on by the forum members and displayed for a certain amount of time, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or something like this. It would be too much work for someone to keep up with and would never happen, but an idea. As it is I don't really look at the homepage and probably most members don't so leave it as is or change it, not a biggy to me one way or the other. New ideas are always really good though.

Truthfully if this bothered me one way or the other I think my doctor could prescribe me something to get over it.

Bring the silver `68 back, its worked for years. Unfortunately this is one of those things that no matter what is chosen, theres going to be those that don't like it.

i agree with BigRed...make it exclusive to Gold Members..as a way to keep financial support up for the sight...the membership dues in my opinion are shadowed by the deals scored through parts and/or knowledge to solve annoying, costly issues. But I like the idea of a rotating pic from Gold Members..

what about some old, original, factory advertisement pics or adds.
pics of members rides always seem to cause arguments.(have seen it many times on other sites)
rotating pics just seems like it would be extra work for mods who do this for free already.

i think a little collage of 5 or 6 random B Body years and makes up in the corner would be sweet myself...........

real cars , not cartoons........

That's color discrimination...LOL... Probably a dig at me too...

I don't like the cartoon. Just don't. Any real car is an improvement.

Gold member car pictures is a great idea! Motivates people a bit to go gold, and we get to see pictures of real rides!

LOL, it's not a dig, Bud, I thought your car was A4 or A9 factory! :eusa_liar:

:toothy10:

Actually it's Ultra Flat Black Paint & not primer even, just tempory, until I can afford to do the "REAL" LL1 Surf Metalic Turquoise Original Color Paint back on the car, With Black accents... For some reason people love it, when I drive it, but it could be the happy sounds coming out the exhaust thou...

"The only real concession to the boulevard is the addition of a horn, and even that has character. It goes "Beep-Beep!" just like the bird in the cartoons."

Is this true? Are RR horns actually different than other Mopar horns from the same year, or am I just totally gullible over an old ad's claims?

Pabster the RR's horns are different than any other Mopars of the same years, the 68's RR's were black in color & the 69's & 70's were a Pale Purple/Violet, also they sound very similar, much like the old VW Beetle/Bug horns, meep meep....
