Does anyone know where to find the post about homemade drive on ramps? I have low ceiling in garage so I can not have a lift installed. Thanks.

Im not sure about that post, maybe under a search?? How about a pit?

I was going to tell to google it but after looking at of them that they make ,don't bother with that . I built my own out of aluminum .

Look in the shop & tools forum maybe, I don't remember that thread...

Made a pair out of 1" thick plywood and they lasted over 25 years but had to 'tighten' them up from time to time. Yeah, they were screwed together. I found a set that were made of a steel frame with plywood treads at an estate sale so the old wood jobs got replaced by these.

I made a set out of 2x8 pressure-treated lumber. For each one I used (iirc) a 36", a 24", and a 12" piece (6' total for ea). U can use lag bolts (countersunk), or carriage bolts to put em together. Total cost was about 25 bux or so for the pair.
I originally made these to make chaining up my big truck easier, just place one behind or in front of the inner tire and drive on. Outside tire goes up in the air, chains go on so tight I didn't even use bungees. I only throw that last part in to say, yeah, they're plenty strong.

You could make em taller, these were high enuff for what was thier original purpose, about 4.5". I use em for oil changes and to gain a little height for floor-jack clearance cuz the front of my car is too low for my old school, high profile jack.

What I was looking for are ramps that you can put the whole car 12 to 18 inches in the air. I remember a post that showed it being built out of 10x2 or 12x2 planks. They had several different posters showing what they built. Thanks for your imputs.
