Hood Clearance Issues

Hi guys I just performed a engine swap in my 1969 Dodge Charger. I went with a 440, Mopar dual plane intake and Holley 750 vac secondary carb with 1" carb spacer. It looks like the hood won't clear just checking to see if any has run this setup before. Common sense whould say remove the spacer but then the fuel line hits manifold. Any help would be great.

I'd say pull the air cleaner, and the stud, and you should get it to close. but doit gently. If it does close OK, you can get a low profile air cleaner.
 
I am running that same intake on a 440 in my Charger and it is tight. I had the choke horn milled off mine, or you could go with a carb that doesn't have a choke - also cut down the vent tubes. 1.25" drop base with a 2 5/16" K&N extreme filter and filtered top and no hood insulation.
 
Bit of a dillema but may not be as bad as first thought. A good bending tool might work on the down shot fuel feed tubes to raise them to horizontal and afford lots of clearance. Just thinking "out of the box".
 
loose the spacer and modify or change the fuel feed.setup fit tight under hood of one of my 68 chargers.carefull about using drop base air cleaners and short filters.many people forget the space between top of carb and top of air cleaner can get too close and cause air flow restriction.
 
I ran into this myself on a couple cars.... tight fit. Stock intake is about as low as you can get, so I'd keep it. Remove the 1" spacer, bend the fuel lines "up" so they clear the intake & use a drop-base filter or one of those Edelbrock triangular foam-filter air cleaners.

And take 3/4" off your carb stud.
 
I spaced the k-frame down, ala 68 hemi a-bodies[dropped 1 1/2"], used a 4" drop base[bell trimmed and divots made for float adjusters]air-cleaner, milled 1/4' off the intake, and had about 1/8" between the hood and aircleaner on my wagon. Sometimes ya gotta get inventive, or else... just do what everybody else does.

1/2" spacer and a drop base on the air cleaner got my hood closed. Cut the cleaner stud short too. On a 68 Coronet (power bulge hood). Did it based off of a recommendation here and worked a charm.
 
I went with a Cool Carb spacer and the stock air cleaner and stock intake to make hood work for my 69RR
