hood interchange

70 charger hood is it's own year. If you want to use a later year hood, you will have to graft it on the hood. By the way, Moparstuart used an air grabber from a 70 RR.

The purple car is mine & i started with a mint rustfree 70 Charger hood that i bought from a guy in Wisconsin, for $100, that had a big 2 foot hole cut in the center for a 2 4BBL tunnel ram. Then i bought a complete 70 Runner hood from a guy in Brockville Ontario, for $1,000.00, with a real nice skin & the inner structure looking like swiss cheese. The secret to grafting the two together is, the vertical pinch weld along the back of all these hoods is exactly the same on 66-70 B Bodies. Just make sure that the skins line up exactly, down over the back of the hood, where it matches up to the cowl vent panel, & your airgrabber setup will sit correctly on a factory breather, like a 70 Runner factory hood. You will also need to cut the extra supports out of the Runner hood structure & weld them onto the Charger hood structure, for the much needed airgrabber skin support! :buffer:

Ok I see how you did it, WOW pure genius, You do fantastic body work, beautiful welds an nice seamless blending of the hoods, great paint laydown, frigging amazing.

no offense meant to anyone, especially 6pktgo, but I personally like/think the Black 70 Charger, in the above photo, the hood looks like it's blended in much better instead of just added on top...

Started with a superbird hood with a hole cut in it
for a six pack scoop it was badly cut and just folded over .

We did cut up a damages air grabber hood to make mine but that was almost 20 years ago now
you have alot more options now

go with a new 70 hood ?

or go with a 71 up style bubble look ? might get you more clearence

or BE&A parts has just the door adapter square you can weld into what ever scoop or rise you decide to put into the hood

@ budnick thats what I like about 6pkt's hood, the new lines it makes changes the aethetics just enought to make it unique, stylish and still match the lines of the car, in other words it looks cool man

@moparstewart, that hood came out nice, I totaly forgot about the daytona and Super Bird hoods as options, just so I savy what you did... did you graft an air grabber hood on or fabricate the scoop from sheet metal? The cowl induction look at the back of it has me mixed up. btw that flat spot on the rear of the scoop would make an awesome home for a heads up digital speedo or tach display

that is the center section out of a real 70 road runner air grabber hood
they have the engine call out size in the rear recessed area and also optional turn signals

I'm really diggin that hood of yours. I like the call out insert,
do you think all the air grabber under hood parts make for less manifold/ air cleaner clearence? Here's what I'm thinking... if it doesnt give me more clearence I'll 86 the air cleaner to door seal /box parts, or just forego the grabber door and just use the bulge as is and I'll remove the engine call out insert and it'll be a cowl induction style scoop, Did these air grabbers offer a manual cable as well a vacuum pull off?
