My hood is in good condition. The top skin is B+. The bottom skin where it meets the top at the front where the latch would be is pitted pretty well.

I was thinking of seperating the two. It looks like 10 spot welds or so around the perimeter hold it together + the caulking at certain points in the middle i would assume were used to dampen vibration mostly.

Am I realistic to think this could come apart as easy as it looks ?

What are you planning on doing after it's apart? IMHO it would be easier to find a decent hood! If you've got time on your hands I say go for it!

well i was going to fix that area.... really the only bad spot..... of course its a tough time consuming fix.... they all are.... I was wondering more so if anyone on here has pulled the skins apart.... there are not that many spotwelds but age plus a little surface rust may cause a problem of seperation

DettMatt did this a few years ago, it's a very intensive labor process. And, the chance to weld it back warped is very high. However, these Hoods are rare, and, finding one will be challenging. If you have the time to tackle it yourself, go for it!
