67 GTX, stock steering wheel. The horn works - sometimes. It seems to depend on temperature and steering wheel position. I replaced the turn signal switch and the horn switch. It still behaves the same.

Most of the time, when I press the horn ring - nothing. Sometimes, it works.

Any suggestions?

The finger still function? Always a good last resort. Seriously though, you may have a loose connection somewhere in the circuit making intermittent contact. Check the circuit wiring. From a to z

Also check the ground... for the horn where it mounts to the body for rust and good contact.

As far as I can tell, everything works as long as the ground at the steering wheel is, well, grounded. I've tested everything and all is well EXCEPT when I press the horn ring. It is not always making contact. I will be working on it more today.

Replaced the contact switch. Also replaced the turn signal switch. I am pretty sure that the problem is where (or not) the horn ring presses the contact surfaces together.

Already done and tested.

Most of the electrical problems with our old iron are caused by grounding issues or loss of a good ground

The problem is intermittent ground from steering shaft to steering column thru the upper steering column bearing.

I have had the same problem for 2 years. Still haven't found the problem. :eusa_pray:

On a side note, ambient temperature has affected my horn. Reno 107 degrees horn died. The note changed first, got low then faded. Came back to life when it cooled down.
